Growing up in Washington DC Rebecca began a volunteer gardening program in her neighborhood that would evolve into City Blossoms, a high-functioning, creative organization dedicated to supporting kid-driven, community engaging green spaces. Through her role as co-founder and Executive Director, as well as her other endeavors, Rebecca has amassed over twenty years of non-profit design, leadership and management experience.

She has first-hand knowledge of the challenges and rewards of being an entrepreneur and leader of color in the non-profit and philanthropic sectors and is motivated to help others bring a lens of awareness and nuance to their own work and organizations. Her passion is to promote social and environmental justice by working with organizations and individuals who want to strengthen their own practice, develop innovative projects and programming, or have recognized a need to pivot from or confront a current challenge. As an artist and creative individual, Rebecca brings a unique and creative perspective to her consulting work.

Through a variety of projects, Rebecca worked with the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education, Child and Family Services Agency, Department of Parks and Recreation, Diverse City Fund, and is a founding member of Rooting DC. More broadly, Rebecca has collaborated on projects with the United States Botanic Garden, the Nature Conservancy, HaRT Yoga and various schools across the country.

Rebecca Lemos-Otero received much of her initial education and training from a fierce and diverse collective of social justice activists mentors and added to that a B.A. from Fordham University, M.F.A from the Maryland Institute College of Arts and a Nonprofit Executive Certificate from Georgetown University.
